I like "Whitney". Could I be becoming an NBC fan again??? I have only watched "Parenthood" and maybe "Harry's Law" for the past few years, so to have "Up All Night", "Free Agents" and now "Whitney" on my must see list, is a new trend.
"Whitney" is the product of Whitney Cummings, a stand up comedienne, who was born Sept 4, 1982 In Washington, D.C. Virgos have the benefit of Pluto shining beneficially on them for the next dozen years or so. Whitney also has many Libra planets, so when Pluto moves on to Aquarius she will continue to have the powerful planet on her side for many years. There will undoubtedly be some power plays and jockeying for position by those around her in the next year, but it gives her the strength to move forward.
"Whitney"s is the creation of Ms. Cummings, and she is the executive producer. She's surrounded herself with strong, charismatic people, who have good chemistry. Chris D'Elia plays her boyfriend Alex with great aplomb, while Rhea Seehorn and Zoe Lister Jones are her gal pals who are strong and meet her on her level. It's seldom that newcomers jell so well so fast, but I'm invested in them already. Chris is an Aries, born March 29, 1980 in Los Angeles. His dad is emmy nominated director Bill D'Elia, producer of "Boston Legal" and other top shows. He has a fine comedic timing which compliments Whitney.
The supporting cast is always crucial to the success of a show, and they chose well, and shows Whitney has the security to act with people who are as competent as she is.
"Whitney" doesn't blaze new trails. It's a sitcom about a couple who have been together for 3 years, and their issues and travails, but it does it with a fresh new approach and is really good. It's the strongest sit com entry of this new season as far as I'm concerned.
