Friday, Nov. 18th, 2011, was Regis Philbin's last day on "Live with Regis and Kelly". It's not clear whether it's illness, or a contract dispute, or something else, but how could you work less for $20 mil a year than one hour a day? So I'm not so sure the press releases that it's over money is accurate. Reege is 80 years old, he's had multiple-million dollar years, so can't need the money. So is it just ego that he won't take a salary cut? Or have the planets simply moved on???
Regis was born on August 25, 1931 in New York city. Astrodatabank says 1933, but it's widely reported that he's 80. No one seems to have the birth time, which is either strange because he's a devotee of astrology, or canny, in that he doesn't want anyone to get the nitty gritty of his chart.
Normally, a Virgo is a king maker, not the king, but Regis has both Jupiter and Venus together in Leo, and Leo loves the limelight, loves the adulation, loves to be center stage. Even if the Virgo would rather be retiring and behind the scenes, that Leo energy won't be denied.
If we speculate that he might have Aquarius rising, being that he's loved by the populace (and loves astrology too, which rules astrology), then Pluto would have moved into the 12th house, and after 24 years of Pluto going thru the 10th house of career and then the 11th house of career money and tv, then it would be time for him to relinquish the spot light to someone else, and maybe work behind the scenes rather than out front.
Maybe it's just that. Maybe it isn't illness. Maybe it isn't that much of a contract dispute. Maybe the planets have just moved into new houses, and it's time to have a new focus. For a Virgo, who was probably shy behind all that need for adulation and love from the audience, he took it to its greatest height. Enjoy your new identity Reege! You've earned it!
